Nothing Better

I’m sitting here and write these words
While feeling warm inside
I let go of the stories told
I found my source of pride

We see so much of what we should be
We’re told so often which way to go
But yours are the only eyes that can see
And yours is the only heart that can know

People will tell you this or that
And media will tell you to run like a rat
To chase like a tiger for more and more
And that way you’ll run by what life has in store

There is something better than all that stuff
That better I speak of is to arrive
At a point in your own life
Where you feel like you have enough

Because enough is the greatest gift
And “always more!” Is its enemy
We’re taught to be blind, we’re not taught to see
That this is the truth which can set you free

My chase is over, my race is run
Of course there is much more work to be done
But my work now is done from a place of peace
Not from ambition, or insecurity release

I wish to plant within you the seed
To maybe see that you have all that you need
This knowledge can guide you through stormy weather

Because, my friend, there is nothing better
