1.
How I smiled
when you told me
you'd love to quote
back to me
my poetry
with those
Carmel eyes
glistening
like the surface
of
St Margaret's
Loch
in
Summer.
2.
I woke from anxious dreams
too often
lost and longing
are familiar friends
I shake myself
and beat
the drum
of
sense
to erase
doubt.
3.
Proud like the Pentlands
you touch me deep
down to my seams
like the Midlothian miners
of old
I would hold you
delicately
like the sacred cup
of Roslin
and
I wouldn't let go.
4.
I would take
your hand
walk with you
round the Lothian's
hills and glens
mind open like the sky
heart fresh like verdant flora
life for loving
I would build a wall
from the strength
you gave me
we'd sit on it
and be nourished
together.
5.
a rush of words
verses trickle onto the page like honey
tasting
like sorcery
magic from the pen
I have answered
the life long
question
The Wu Wei Tao
the arrow finds it's mark
the flower tilted towards the sun.
6.
Harmony on auld Reekie's streets
You and me
have built
a bridge
between earth and the moon
and as we dance
among the craters
La Luna sings.
7.
The tree cannot grow without soil or sun
fails to flourish in the shade
the gold cannot be traded
yet is not worthless
the grass does not stretch
above the rest.
8.
When will you return to me
oh security
oh stability
oh serenity
or were you ever here
who can say.
9.
The beauty of the Lothian's
the Lammermuirs
flotterstone
The Pentlands
Roslyn
is
second
to your beauty
my dear
your smile
your eyes
your face
are all more enchanting
than my glens
that your mind is like treasure
that you posses the three jewels
makes it all the more sublime.
10.
No tears I could weep
could explain
like the death
of Sacco and Vanzetti
the tragedy of Spain
the evictions of Occupy
there are no words
good enough
even eloquence
would fall short
it can only be felt
in the chest and
seen in the eyes.
