Trapped

Sitting in an empty bar
on my little island,
half way through a beer
stuck in no-man's land.

Too long now
my life on hold,
too old now
to be too bold.

There come's a time
when it's too late,
to change lane
and trust in fate.

Other lives
across the sea,
up for grabs
but not for me.

Too old you see
to be free,
to give up
what leaves me empty.

So I ask
what's the best,
I can do
to make the most-

I'm trapped you see,
and the best on offer
is another beer
to drown my loss.

That's pretty much me.
