soul
discretion divine in my hallowed halls
sanctuary of heart interpretated
secreting away my soul
lest anyone see how soft I am
my heart alters according to my need
with prayers rising to heaven
grieving inward with despair
silently uttering my cares
please watch over my family
down on my knees I give thanks
grateful for fraility, grateful for sin
the knowledge recieved, is hard born
wisdom immortal, mine

learning...

between one another
...was a moment most enlightening}
she told us we were reflections
each mirroring the other
externally similar...internally reversed
nuances buried within
she of air...I grounded in earth
...complicated sisters
I didn't understand her then
that bangled lady who did our reading
beads rattling whenever she moved
but many years have since flowed
like water under a bridge
ever changing in its constance
wavering & distorted ...

see possibility beyond loss...
all throughout our hellscape land
to give your blues an Olympic toss!
See possibility below and above
dry pollen blowing off the trees
in automatic future love
undermining present disease...
which some will say must be removed
and often that is just the case,
but not before it's been well proved...
THAT WHOLESOMENESS IS LEFT IN PLACE!

Reassuring and safe,
I like how I can come to you -
Knowing you will never judge.
Of course you'll express your view.
But everyone follows their own path,
However stupid, however smart.
Understanding, it's what you do!
I turn to you when I feel stuck,
Cos you always have the answer -
Like someone's beautiful mama would.
You hate that expression,
But I find you endearing.
Showed my own mom your image last night -
Asked her what she thought...
'She's nice, Billy,' she said,
Despite knowing nothing...

Love with fur on it
It’s my fervent wish for just one day
to get out of my own damn way
and live the life of this dog.
So utterly shameless and content in his fur,
never stewing and stressing
over whether that bark was misconstrued,
or offense taken at his effusive wagging.
To sit with certain hope and expectation
of veggie scraps falling like manna from heaven
and yet without an ounce of resentment
when such treats fail to appear.
To lie spread-eagled in absolute trust,
open to belly rubs and assurance of his goodness, ...
to get out of my own damn way
and live the life of this dog.
