The Key
among the myths of old
contains knowledge of power
resisting the urge to deny
realize men and women of renown
went to their deaths
than to relinquish it's honesty
to turn a phrase
why have a magic key
King Solomon's sigil ring
to build the holiest of holies
to make a covenant with Earth
God's own seat
demons with technical power
were ordered to build
with secret sorcercy

Lon Chaney Jr.
sweet torment,
don't splash your wine on me
these pockets are empty.
perched on a barstool
head held in calloused hands
as the lamplight shines
upon a weathered face,etched
with years
vespers murmur
as the conductor wields a swizzle stick
arid martinis know the truth.
limelight, it casts shadows
from Hollywood and Vine
I stutter, speaking
to a Woodward Avenue girl
man becomes the monster,
radio static whispers,
sweet voices torment
a green rosetta ripped...

I Can Do This
It is Dangerous
To have Faith
In yourself
Without
A little Commonsense
To Understand
The abilities
You have now
Need to be
Upgraded
To the Abilities
You need to have
To have Faith
You can do
What your thinking
Or one will
Crash and burn
Into the scrub lands
Of twisted Bitterness
Of what ifs
Poor me denials
To have Faith
In yourself
Without
A little Commonsense
To Understand
The abilities
You have now
Need to be

The Lines We Cross
There is a line in the sand that states:
"This is how the world works."
And it is a fine line.
No one can touch it.
The sand is crowded,
with people as far as the eye can see.
All remaining firmly behind the line.
Some even avert their gaze,
as if even looking,
could cause great pain.
Yet sometimes,
in the quiet of night,
there is laughter in the air.
It laughs at the absurdity,
that words in the sand,
control us.
And there is a heavy mist in the air,...
"This is how the world works."
And it is a fine line.
No one can touch it.
The sand is crowded,
with people as far as the eye can see.
All remaining firmly behind the line.
Some even avert their gaze,

October Poems 2024 >> the countdown
A poem for each day of the month in which I was born
October 07
the countdown
oneself must be abased in one’s own true eyes,
lest one should plummet swiftly from one’s blue skies.
twos days are opportune for dialoguing,
where oneself self-destructs on monologuing
treetops are ripe three-stops for those who journey
with friends, for one may need a rare attorney
to say, not left, nor right, but through the valley,
whose destination boasts a grand finale
four ever-young, the heart transformed by mercy, ...

first kiss
remember
those
experiences
that lead
to that
first kiss,
waiting,
aging, then
near
ripening,
those
moments
like sharing
awkward
fruit, better
to use
it before
they spoil.

I Had A Dream (Shapeshifter-Martin Luther King, Jr.)
From the jungle as a Black Panther King, I once roamed
To commence me back into a human form, let my voice become your ring tone
This is not what I had in mind
Over the hills over that mountaintop, I have traveled through the portal of time
Let my words be heard for every man, woman, baby boy or every baby girl
The war is not with technology but with the diabolical tongue confessions of society when wickedness unfurls
I stood on the podium to declare my humbly decree
For every nation, every color, every region in the name or...

Creature
My body overcome and mind awash with emotion i think of myth.
Creature, do not run from me but embrace the similar strangeness of me as I shall do to you, sing to me a story of heartbreak and tragedy, tell me your mind, you’re wrongness, your innermost desires and sorrows and in doing that let me know you truly

fly mama fly
daddy's little girl,
mommy's mirror image.
sissy's best friend,
everyone, everywhere's make pretend.
conceal, don't feel,
trust no one with what's real or for appeal.
is it nature or nurture,
generational or just culture?
things to do and places to be,
no one can ever, question my loyalty.
expect nothing, minimalize requests,
don't be a burden, shrink to fit.
the picture of juxtaposition;
abrasive yet gentle,
frenzied and composed,
enticing but off-putting.
weak, codependent, insignificant,...

torn between two choices
Your choices are made in a moment, and yet their
consequences transcend a lifetime.”—M. J. DeMarco
choice leads me on:
sorely am i divided.
a hopeless pawn?
a future predecided?
no parliament
convened, tho scant a hearing?
chance to repent,
ere naked flames come searing?
the evil eye
blindfolds the will of reason,
