Grocery Shopping
I’m hosting a new life within me and so it surprises me when men look approvingly at my swollen shape. This happened on Saturday while I was at the grocery store.
As I strolled down the aisle of the grocery store, I noticed a man eyeing me intently. His gaze lingered a little longer than usual, and I could feel his admiration from across the produce section.
I felt him coming closer and he said, "Excuse me, miss. I hope you don't mind me saying, but you look absolutely radiant."

Words Becoming Flesh
March 18, 2024
His words still echo in the corners of my mind, "You are beautiful." Each syllable reverberated, causing a flutter in my heart. I knew he was married but his touch left me breathless. Surrendering to his embrace felt like falling into a dream where time ceased to exist and only our flesh was real.
Our betrayal of his wife and child was marked by the miracle of life blooming within me. I carry his essence, a tiny seed of new life taking root, growing with each passing day.
But what of her, this precious soul nestled within my womb? Will...

Letter of Thanks to David
Dear David,
I wanted to express my deepest gratitude for your ongoing support throughout my pregnancy. Your generous financial contributions have made a significant difference and have alleviated so much of the stress that comes with preparing for the arrival of our baby.
While I understand that our relationship had unintended consequences, I am genuinely thankful for the memories we share, particularly of that fateful night. I do regret the strain it placed on your marriage, and I hope that with time, wounds will heal.
On a brighter note, I am incredibly...

Another Origami Butterfly
I saw my little friend at the park again today.
She gave me another origami butterfly and,
looking back to her mother, said,
“Baby on board.” We all smiled.
When Joseph came home for lunch,
I showed him the butterfly and we folded
into one another for a little mid-day release.
When Joseph kissed my stomach,
I thought of that little girl, and
wondered what her life would become.

Please Rest Dear Child
When I feel her kicking in my tummy,
I’m thankful for our common creatureliness.
I too kick and squirm when held too tightly.
Please rest dear child.
There will be time enough for
roaming freely in this beautiful world.

Please rest dear child.
There will be time enough for

When We Make Love
My daughter is very much a living being now.
Her life is near to me always and present for all things.
I feel her kicking and turning in my tummy.
I think her arms must reach for Joseph
when we make love to him.
Her life is near to me always and present for all things.
I feel her kicking and turning in my tummy.
I think her arms must reach for Joseph
when we make love to him.

A Madam's Journal
April 2, 1939 in Dallas, Texas
As I sit here in the dimly lit parlor of Frogtown, my mind drifts back to a time when the scent of whiskey and the sound of laughter filled these walls. But tonight, after my work is done, I think back on the one young cowboy who stole my heart.
I can't help but wonder about him, the one who left his child for me to birth. Did he find the peace he sought back in Missouri, nestled in the arms of his wife? Or does he too look back on our time together with a bittersweet longing? Was I ever my most beautiful for him? Will I haunt his memory...

Do You Feel His Embrace?
As I whisper my prayers the world slowly turns.
A miracle next to my heart gently burns.
With each flutter of movement, our grace takes its flight,
I receive now my lover in with the morning’s first light.
When I'm lost in his arms, do you sense his embrace?
Do you feel the deep union of our sweet sacred space?
In each of his thrusts you will learn love's refrain.
The love that we give is never in vain.
A miracle next to my heart gently burns.
With each flutter of movement, our grace takes its flight,
I receive now my lover in with the morning’s first light.
When I'm lost in his arms, do you sense his embrace?

Spark of Life
the sun's many sublime fingers came creeping in
prying open the blinds to our bedroom window
watching us through the slit in the curtains
solar flares bounced off the sweat on your shoulders
sending iridescent light scattering across the walls
the sun burned holes into the carpet, peering through
hoping to catch a glimpse of the spark of life
that had just taken place, hidden in the dark
prying open the blinds to our bedroom window
watching us through the slit in the curtains
solar flares bounced off the sweat on your shoulders
sending iridescent light scattering across the walls
the sun burned holes into the carpet, peering through
hoping to catch a glimpse of the spark of life

Back When I Was Slim
Back then in my college days,
my bod was slim and trim.
Late-night parties and sex galore,
the bed became my gym.
But now I’m at a different stage
I’ve got to think things through.
My bod now hosts a brand new life.
To this role I must be true.

Conversation in the Bar
The soft hum of conversation and clinking glasses filled the air as I sat across from Sarah, the soon-to-be ex-wife of my baby's father. The atmosphere in the restaurant was charged with a mix of tension and infatuation, as we navigated the complexities of our lives. Sarah and I exchanged genuine smiles, both aware of the peculiar circumstances that had brought us together but thankful for our new friendship.
And then he walked in – the College Professor. Memories flooded back, like an old book being reopened. I had written about him before, an enigmatic figure in my past. Now,...
