She never listened to anybody
This was around the time I was 8 or 9 years old.
I was in the 3rd grade.
The teacher's aid always told her and the rest of us not to stand up on the swing.
She always did it anyway.
She never listened to anybody.
I heard she had a terrible upbringing.
She was beaten by her mother for being mischievous and defiant.
Her father would come home when he wanted to.
He was a traveling salesman.
Supposedly he had two mistresses, with families in Texas & Virginia.
I hated her guts because she always used to chase me home from school, pull my hair...

Puppy - Part 2
When you died, you died too soon.
You died one year ago this afternoon.
A vet tried to save you with a blood transfusion but you died anyway.
You died and my heart was broken one year ago today.
I bought you in 2017 and you were only six years old when you died.
If a person ever says that I didn't love you, that person will have lied.
Some Chihuahuas are hateful but you were not.
You were one of the best things I've ever bought.
I took you to two vets but your life still came to an end.
You weren't just a dog, you were also a wonderful...

Old to Young
Dear Young Tim,
You're worrying for nothing. There are so many things you can't control, so worrying about them won't change a thing.
Whether you are happy or not is a choice. When you wake up, wake up happy. Make the world convince you that it's a bad day.
Be bolder. If you want to sing, then sing. You get better by practicing. Take lessons when you are young. Learn to play a guitar. Learn to play the piano. Learn to handle money. No matter what you do, money will be important.
Life is short. Do things. Try things. See things.
People come...

The Late Richard Franklin
It was a day that classic Doctor Who fans would certainly hate.
We said goodbye to the man who starred as Captain Mike Yates.
His death was even more sad because he died on Christmas Day.
Millions of his fans have missed him ever since he passed away.
People loved his performances and Richard Franklin was his name.
Now that he's deceased, fans of Doctor Who will never be the same.
He starred in one episode of "Harry" and nine episodes of "Crossroads".
When he starred in "Emmerdale Farm", he starred in over thirty episodes. ...

What goes on is not what we're told to see
One hundred million trees each year
Creates junk mail no one reads

Half of all Americans don't read books
I'm one of them, but you're reading this

The 30th Anniversary of Papaw's Death
Almost fifty-three years ago, I became your grandson.
You died 30 years ago today at the age of seventy-one.
You became sick when a doctor prescribed you some Dilantin.
The allergy ended your life and we would never see you again.
Your death hurt others as well as me.
Your body was in such a bad shape that you had a closed casket ceremony.
The Dilantin was what made your body end up in such a bad shape.
When you perished, almost two hundred people attended your wake.
You lived in Sneedville but passed away in a hospital in Morristown.
It was a sad...

Happy Birthday, Mom - Part XII
Your death came as a surprise, it certainly wasn't foretold.
If you hadn't died, today you would've turned 76 years old.
I learned that you were terminal shortly before you died.
When your life ended, people were sure to be misty-eyed.
If you were still alive, I'd be spending your birthday with you.
When I say that you had love and respect, it is certainly true.
If you hadn't died, today you would be eating your birthday cake.
When I found you dead, it was almost too much for me to take.
Your death was upsetting, painful and very hard for me to face. ...

A Tuesday in July at 6:28 am (Part 2)
On my second day out on the Atlantic City Boardwalk, I headed down towards the Claridge Hotel and Brighten Park. As seen in the picture. The Claridge was once a Hotel/Casino from 1981 to 2014. Since 2014 the Claridge operates as a hotel.
Brighten Park which is adjacent to the hotel sits right off the Boardwalk. This park is home to the Korean War Veterans Memorial which was decicated in July of 2000. Sadly, as I was admiring the wall and statues, about six or seven people were shooting up on the concrete steps. Horrible to see & witness. These were a mix of older & younger...

A Monday in July at 6:45 am (Part 1)
A steamy summer morning. Haze covering most of the city. I decided to head south on the most famous street in the world at one time, the Atlantic City Boardwalk.
I walked across the Boardwalk towards a walkway that led down to the beach near the LandShark Bar & Grill. An older couple with two young children were enjoying the ocean before anyone else. They had free reign. Just them and the seagulls. The waves were already looking quite menacing. That's a great thing. Later on today I'll be here, swimming, riding waves and thrashing all about.

A Brief Message To You
I was thinking on writing something quite grand for my 600th poem. Instead, I have absolutely nothing on my mind. No stories, no poems, no lyrics.
One thing I will say is this...
A Gigantic Thank you to all of the poets that would read, comment and praise my poems and stories over & over again. You know who you are. I've always appreciated what you have said in the comments and through e-mail. You've all inspired me in one way or another. For those who I have collaborated with, I learned a lot from you. Everyone was considerate, patient and super talented! ...
