Domestic Heart
It’s time to renovate my heart
Help it to become a cozy home
Where your love can come to rest
I’ll paint it with the warmest softest hues
Velvet to the touch
Eternal depth of color
Into which the eyes can sink the soul
It’s heated floors I’ll cover with a bed so plush
It’s cushions draw you in
And tuck their nest around your love
A perfect fit for sleep
I’ll add some windows
So the fresh clean air and natural rays of sunshine
Drift lazily into our space of peace and passion
Puffy summer clouds will be the ceiling
So...

This place
How shall I, describe this place;
this jail of boring dull embrace,
with green facade, while flowers bloom,
between two streets of dirty fume?
The stench here slowly goes away,
as some will talk, and some will pray.
Some are kind and some are mean,
and some are very heard and seen.
A place of good and bad it seems,
a bed of dirty stranger dreams,
as color caught within the grey,
permeates most every day.
Sometimes, the sound, of music plays,
with songs of old and Christian praise.

Build a Home
I wish not the fleeting’ desires’ of passion’ and lust
I wish not the ride of coasters of emotions
For it leaves a painful trail and our hearts it rusts
And kills hope and love with its violent forces’
I have built a house of wood, mortar’ and bricks
But a house is a building with many rooms and walls
With green lands and deep valleys surrounding about it
Lifeless on its own and empty within’ its halls
But I wish to build a home,
I wish to build home for two
I wish to build a home for two
and the kids ...

This isn't my home
Though I've lived here for years
This isn't my home
Though the memories are warm
This isn't my home
Though we have peace
This isn't my home
We just stay here
Yet deep down
Anytime we could be thrown out
A roof over your head
Is a blessing
I hope you know that
Because that's the one thing
I've never had
Protection from the rain
Is only rented from month to month
Yet deep down you know
You hold no power
Deep down you know
That you're walking on eggshells ...

Parenting Monopoly
Oh, bother.
I forgot to write a poem today.
I was busy rushing around my house -
up and down the stairs,
in and out of rooms -
on a seemingly endless cycle
of repetitive chores.
Days like this feel just like
an unproductive game of Monopoly.
Instead of properties to collect,
there were socks to match,
towels to fold
and uniforms to find.
Being pay day,
I could finally settle some accounts,
pay some bills,
and buy some essentials.
However, there is going to be...

polyjoys #2: Group Meeting
Group meeting,
she said -
Hell yes, let’s talk -
For half a moment my sore stomach dropped -
Until she started to complain.
Why the hell are the pots
a foot above her head?
WHO DID THIS.
Who took all the sense
out of the placement of the dishes??
I said,
Don’t look at me, dude,
I’m two inches taller than you.
Look at our six-foot-something boyfriend for your answers…
And by the way, those dishes? -
I just do ‘em, bitches,
and I don’t live here (yet)
so you get what you...

Four Walls
Watching a random woman
with raised arms
scream crazily at a
concert made me realize
that I have never been that
excited about anything.
Anxiety and I left the venue
and went home.
Where we belong.

Finding Our Homes
I held him, and would not let him go
until I brought him to my mother’s house,
and into the chamber of her who conceived me.
-Song of Solomon
After sending this message, I fell into a wonderful lustful trance.
I touched myself and imagined my professor in our home for a
meal and a visit with my mother before following me to my room.
Mother would remain downstairs,
softly approving her vision of our lovemaking
as her fingers touch their own warm home.
until I brought him to my mother’s house,

Extracted
I was phoned today
And told
That my application
For an extractor fan
Was to be put on hold
The caller was very apologetic
I reassured him
That i realised
That it would of been
An unlikely thing
As i was three floors up
Where even bees did not sting
And that much scaffolding
Would of been needed
A cost to much
To be conceded
He sounded pleased
And surprised
At my positive response
And that my understanding of the reality
Was there to Ensconce
I also said
Not to worry
Ive never...
