TAG, YOU'RE IT! (collaboration with Lilliputian)
They played a fierce game of tag all of their lives
From as far back to childhood through to their later years in life
Tag you're it
Now, tag you're it!
The game was harmless, but both were eager to tag the other throughout their lives
Even when they were married & had families, the game went on
One of them fell ill a few years back
Even so, wheelchair bound and sick, he would tag his friend gleefully, like he did for over 70 years
His friend was saddened but thought he'd bounce back
He never did
While in the hospital on his deathbed, he...

Walls, sheets, curtains, all white...
In the silence of the night shadows creep.
Whispers of the unknown stir the soul.
A chill descends, fingers cold and thin,
tugging at the edges of sanity.
The walls breathe a pulse within the stone.
Echoes of footsteps, unseen yet near.
Eyes in the darkness, staring, unblinking.
A presence felt, but never seen.
The air grows thick, a suffocating dread.
Heartbeat pounding like a distant drum.
A flicker of light reveals a hollow face.
Fleshless grin, frozen in eternal scream.
Hands reach from the void,...
Whispers of the unknown stir the soul.

Ain't No Sunshine
"Ain't no sunshine when she's gone"
her ghost of ashes turned to stone
haunting refrain in depths farewell
in the twilight where shadows linger
holding secrets on the edge of dreams
with an unfiltered dark symphony
and in whispers she hears her name
"Ain't no sunshine when she's gone"
her ghost of ashes turned to stone
haunting refrain in depths farewell
in the twilight where shadows linger
holding secrets on the edge of dreams
with an unfiltered dark symphony
and in whispers she hears her name

Old Wrinkles
Mysteries in arabesque and old wrinkles
of the silence creeping into the grains
in nature's tranquility through cypresses
and monsoons on the Serengeti's veins
listening to echoes of the wildebeest
in caravans along Tanzania...
becoming ghosts

Clad as a Jester
A hunting whisper of a shadow's echo
"as I walk a mile for a Camel cigarette"
unhinged in these hollowed halls
cloaked in a velvet shroud
clad as Jester
as I wander in insanity's labyrinth
unhinged in madness cradle
listening to the strings of death
tormenting my soul
with a specter of the past
"as I walk a mile for a Camel cigarette"
clad as jester
now a narcistic imbecile
without a clue

Asatru of the prairie
Down here in the coolies.
Right down by the slough.
I sit.
In the mud and dirty things.
Exasperated in my exhaustion.
Lying among dog tails and sweet grass.
Spear grass and hand picked sage.
And, let this smoke carry my sacrifice.
To the spirts.
And may they dim the sun.
So it doesn't beat down on me so.
As the sun turns orange.
Pink.
And red.
The sunset.
Announces the coming.
Of the cool night air.
And, I see Hugin and Munin.
Or, is it just raven.
In pairs.

Banshee
Distracted by the mirror
without a shadow of a doubt,
there remains this nestled
and threatening animal,
resident of my rib cage,
tick tock of a time bomb
beating in the folds of eternity.
This beast that inhabits me,
and turns me inside out,
screaming to all the winds
that no longer move any mills.
"The soldiers are at the door, sir!
What do we do now?"
"Scream, captain, scream
until their ears burst."
