carmine
i knew she was red from the start
for every soul owns a color
a vivid reflection of the heart
carmine is what i call her
a deeper shade, yet not entirely charred or shadowed
just bright enough to leave a mark
like lipstick lasts on skin
and she stained me
everybody
suddenly i feared, her red would somehow mix into my pastel violets and blues
so very delicate, they are
how could she?
i cannot erase those spots
the damage is done
a burden colored carmine
onto me
now i sit and pray.

Knock to the Head
People hear me talk, nod and agree
Then say the opposite, expecting the same from me
People ask me for advice, I give them my take
Then they do what they want, expecting me to correct their mistake
Sometimes I think people need a knock to the head
Maybe shake up a few brain cells that aren't dead
Just thinking of some people fills me with dread
Just put me on a beach with a pina colada instead
People never listen, think they know it all
All you can do is wait for them to fall
People are all greedy, no give and all take
But...

I despise people who are two-faced liars
They pretend to be something they’re not
They get mad when the truth is too hot handle
Then change the narrative when they get caught
I dislike individuals who are duplicitous
They smile but talk smack behind your back
Acting nice in one place but toxic in another
Their narrative is a bunch of poppycock
And if they get political
It’s cynical
They’re so hypocritical
It’s miserable
I don’t want to hear that gaudy talk
