Last of His Kind
Last of His Kind
When the earth thawed,
Mammoths found their personal Manhattan
in the Pacific Northwest
but with their own trumpet
instead of car horns.
Mammoths were among the original vegans
and the island was like
getting to raid the 24-hour salad bar
on a cruise ship.
They were luckier than pigeons in Yankee Stadium
with walnuts as leftovers instead of popcorn.
The hairy behemoths became grandparent figures
for the humans.
Thereby the sacred purpose of the lumbering beasts
no longer required...

The Evolution of Creation
So He, the divine being,
(Who for millenniums and centuries has had different names)
Let loose his power with a clap of his hands,
And Bang!
He created a race of celestial giants across the cosmos.
And off they went, scattered transversely on His canvas,
The new universe.
But these titans of massive and epic proportions,
Some of gas, some of dust,
Went into conflict,
To conquer and claim
Their territories in the vast expanse.
And for millions and billions of years
They went to war.
Some of the gas giants would...
