#death
The broad subject of death, including grief and memorial poems when losing a loved one. Also concepts around death in wider society, fear of dying and what happens after we die. These poems may be dark and full of sorrow.

Poison Tree
Poison Tree
So within the poison tree
I see the rotten part of me
No fruit to bare no soul to see
Just another mystery not solved
I lie awake at night
Afraid of what awaits me
The sinner and the sin now meet
no leaves to fall just a cold wind
As my soul descends into darkness
Gaze at what frightens the masses
But it doesn’t frighten my mind
So with roots with no soil I toil
My body is racing with a tired mind
But my body is withering on the vine
Who knows when it’s...

Just another mystery not solved

Iris Eileen
young lark delights
over prairie fields
soaring high for
the golden light
lark caged within
cities of care
calling out for
expansive lands
released lark
ascending
finding home
in spirit’s hands

A Wrongness In The Room
What's that thing at night
Click click clicking on the floor
The smell of rot and blight
Brimstone odor of kingdoms nevermore
Voice calling from the window sill
A reverberance on the air
If only fright would quickly kill
Relief from a nightmare
Speech of damned mimicry
What could be that thing
Noise which should not be
Silent steps and scratching pangs
Silhouette of unnatural shape
Mocking creation's throne
Visions of murder...

Artful drone
The knife that has cut me
recollects pain
My blood, the wine of sorrow
spills for each rank thought
and one sip lost to the seller of morrow
The rope I twine into a noose
complicates me
Seven coils to rid the toils of woe
Delve into the spaces between the fibres
And scribe your thoughts on each strand
Lest the words be forgotten
This pistol has planted a seed
A revolving simmer
The ground swells under its conclusion
Bloom for me
Swoon for me
Blossom in this shallow dusk

Breathless (2024)
sometimes hovering overhead -
no more breathing in -
we're the ones who after death
awaken to begin
total transformation
from who we were before
by feeling the sensation
of forever more
slipping through the universe
in a flash, a blink
for a moment to be immersed
in where we are synced
spiraling, revolving
drums beating as we spin
attuned to what's evolving
in wherever we begin
hovering overhead
as we again begin
to transform from being dead
to again breathe in...

Hear It Calling
Beneath the loam, where silence breeds
A shadow stirs in restless plight
I buried him, my crime unheeds
Yet feel his clawing in the night
His voice, a rasp through fetid air
A specter’s hymn, a curse untamed
It bids me down the stairs in despair
Yet no tongue speaks the damned unnamed
Scratch, scratch beneath the floor’s tight grain
The boards do shudder at his call
Each groan and creak becomes a chain
That binds my soul to rise and fall
The grave exhales its rancid breath
A miasma cold, my guilt laid bare ...

Erosion of Time
Time has been unforgiving
to my mortal wounds.
My soul lay exposed
beneath a bone white moon.
Contemplation at the day's end.
Is time a formidable opponent
or a faithful friend?
When will it be our time?
Will a ladder to eternity
be there to climb?
Who will read my final rhyme?
We waste our days,
in a grossly over thought maze.
You may cherish a memory
Were you even present or
did your attention flee?
We are told the now
is where happiness resides
The abysmal past
is our usual alibi. ...

Left to Die
Aberration of the dark world
Limbs lost; the pearly white skeleton shows.
Flesh rots, disease spreads, sepsis grows.
Putrid life begins to wither away.
Flies abound; ripped victims lie in pain.
Agony of those who starve, and no one else.
Perpetual suffering until the end—
excruciating misery is all they felt.
While decaying stench rises,
the body and soul crumble.
Gore in sight makes the feeble tremble—
bodies hacked to death; Life exists no longer.
Bloodied scourge engulfs the air;
mutilation and pestilence, visual of sadistic...

It fell from the sky
It spreads through the air
Dissolving the body internally
This can't be cured
You'll die a turbulent death
Pressure building inside your skull
Eyes popped out, fall on the ground
Tympanum burst you bleed from your ears
Spasmodic convulsion, your moribund
Loss of consciousness, body fluids oozing Out
Coagulated blood, punctured lungs erode
Softening of the brain, muscle contractions uncontrolled
Puss filled bruises
Maggots munch your flesh
Cerebral meningitis
Swollen cranium explodes
Malignantly slaughtered ...

Lost You When You Moved To California
I
lost you,
my darling
daughter. I lost
you when you moved to
California, got
conned into posing naked
for some magazine and died from
an overdose of drugs at some bash
that was going on at some jerk's beach house!

The Things We Do to Watch Jake Paul Die
Folks arrive in their fanciest gear,
Silk socks, cufflinks, and a touch of flair,
They're all here for one reason, don't be shy,
The things we do to watch Jake Paul die.
Concessions run out, popcorn’s in flight,
Kids on shoulders for a better sight
The buzz is real, a weh deh bredda ya a try,
The things we do to watch Jake Paul die.
Vendors hawk merchandise with zeal,
"Jake's Last Stand" on every deal
Crowds go wild, even the shy,
The things we do to watch Jake Paul die.
A grandma knits by the big-screen...

Blood In The Loch, Freedom Flowing Fjord
By loch and glen, the shadows grow
The heather drinks the twilight’s glow
With Robert’s men, we ride as one
Beneath the moon, behind the sun
The confessor marches with blades of steel
Their boots do crush the Highland’s keel
But o’er the fjord, the echoes ring
With battle songs we proudly sing
Through mist and stone, our paths are made
The sword our guide, the bow our trade
The stag does leap, the raven cries
And freedom lights the coldest skies
We strike by night, a shadow’s blade
In Bruce’s name, the price is...
