overcome by sorrow
Overcome by sorrow
There is so much misery in the world the bees are dying out
the bumblebee has disappeared, elephants are sot for their
ivory, the rhino for their magic horns, fish is being farmed in big tanks
when are we going to farm sardines?
So many wars in the Middle East, Africa starves among plenty
IDF shots small children for the hell of it.
I have no strength to read all of the tragedies, must prioritise
try to feed a starving dog or feel sorry for a mule,
I don't know what to do the suffering is overwhelming I cry ...

a voyage to Greenland
A voyage to Greenland
Greenland is the largest island in the world, but it is not a continent
I looked up Nuuk the capital up on the YouTube; it is now a modern town
with supermarkets and even cafes.
I was there fifty years ago. Back then it was a rather primitive place
with a million barking dogs and drunk people on the dirt roads,
they used to hang dogs slowly so the hairs stood out and it was
exported as pelt one hopes this practice has been outlawed.
I remember the coastline it was bottle green and for once, still,
we went fishing in a...

Ode To An Oklahoma Locksmith
Nationwide Insurance twas on my side yay
cuz, earlier this July forth
two thousand eighteen ja way
windows closed, doors locked, and
car keys visibly splayed
on driver seat oye vay
feel free to call me a horse's ass today
utter anxiety compounded,
plus unable to locate master key,
thence fodder for poem and more to say
rifling thru boxes without success,
an impulse arose to call road
upon learning policy

Cumulus & Stratus
Where neither air nor astronauts may live;
Yes, I’m the sky and all the rest is air.
If not for me there’d be no atrium
To hold within the weather and the rain,
From where the cumulus and stratus play.
The teaming life that feeds on coral beds,
The orca pods who prey on lesser whales
As dolphins with their echos guide the young.
The snow on summits where no birds can reach,
The forest at its base, bears hibernate.
The sockeye who return from whence their birth,
And beneficial run-offs...

Distracted
i was about to answer, but was distracted by beautiful birdsong, during an interlude from the loud gusting winds, which have now returned, and set the trees to sweep the azure skies, and clear the cobwebbed clouds away

Moon Child
Each night of overcast protection
When the air is filled with coastal haze,
Light of fair orb’s rising reflection
Is seeking while hidden from my gaze.
She graces each day, ev’ry ev’ning,
Hoping notes of my love she will find.
Sending tears of stars while believing,
Praying for my words the sweet’st kind.
I peer in the mist for my ember,
As my thoughts tell her listen be still.
On nights you think I won’t remember,
But of course, dear child, I always will.
My love, Moon’s affection, I’ve missed you ...

Within the Clouds and Light
I bury your body underneath the dirt.
There you are lying below the lingering
Feelings of sadness, grief, and being hurt.
I am still always left grasping and fingering
This life that you gave me, but I know that
We will finally meet again when the darkness
Stops glowing or when the word is not flat.
Someday we will both be bathed in starkness
Of the light and the freedom we have wanted.
Someday, I know our bodies will be closer to
The sky. It is your smile that has haunted
Me when I close my eyes to sleep as if you

Kissing The Sea
My friend the sea showed me her bow, then she rolled over and kissed me.

Love and Fear ( Ode To The Clouds)
Of many a hour I sat to think,
I wasted time on dream like thoughts.
I waited year’s seems like eternity,
yet I sat still,
I then awoken to find
nothing changed,
not sure why;
I began to wonder.
Reality is,
life changes but within a dream
all stands still just for me.
I remember quite clearly,
the sky above grew gray and gloomy,
the clouds came down to consume me
instead it stole my heart.
I fell hard,
but my heart fell harder
for my gloomy lover.
The clouds frighten me ...

The Clouds Never Spoke
(Haibun)
The clouds never spoke. Even thunder claps and blinding flashes from a storm without rain in late summer had nothing to do with the lack of words. Exchanging this brief life for the view of a pinpoint universe in the belief, with that same view blocked from my aspheric vantage, that I was being observed, never suspecting their indifference. Yet for all the muteness in their constant rebirth, I recalled how awestruck the sight of the slow majesty of clouds redefining the summit of a distant range was, than the lidless glare of a day's clear sky sitting featureless on...

A Corner of Sky
a light blue cloud
singing in your hand
folded once
then once more; the wings
of your origami crane
I breathe in deep
the flesh-like tissue
uplifting me
through fluttering lids
to a corner of sky
all to myself,
lighter than birds
kiting
through the draft and rush,
reaching for the sun
I have no voice
with which to sing
no feathers I,
still I bank and soar
trying to remember you
singing in your hand
folded once
then once more; the wings
of your origami crane
I breathe in deep
the flesh-like tissue
uplifting me
through fluttering lids
to a corner of sky
all to myself,
lighter than birds
kiting
through the draft and rush,
reaching for the sun
I have no voice
with which to sing
no feathers I,
still I bank and soar
trying to remember you
