To sleep - perchance
to dream” ~ Hamlet
Within a dreamless sleep
or even a sleepless dream
it always still does seem
there is some mystery to keep
As I try to fathom its deep
another sad salted stream
refuting any cheerful gleam
with these endless tears I weep
While I search for words to find
what hides now beneath the drape
Despite quaint manners I do mind
yet cannot ever hope to escape
All of these facets thus designed...

Chimed
Sweet bells jangled out of tune" ~ Ophelia in Hamlet
What news does the sexton bring
about these pitted bells to ring
This music left here scrawled
in torn reason tattered and sprawled
Madness has more than mere danger
in its own distilled anger
Fills the air that surrounds
with its true discordant sounds
Leaving me with little more
than just a threadbare score
All of my poetry left unrhymed
each time the waning hour is chimed

about these pitted bells to ring
This music left here scrawled

Jeu de Mots
"To be, or not to be" ~ Hamlet
There remains so much to know
within each jeu de mots
how the words leave much
beyond mere sight or soft touch
For within these lines I pen
let the end begin once again
a beginning have its fresh start
all in the sacred name of art
Since what was is not now is
when uncorked so loses its fizz
nor shall it ever hence be
no matter how the future seems free
When vast changes in this tide
can no longer be...

Poetry of the Trees
Fair is foul, foul is fair” ~ Shakespeare
I still hear each whispered line
upon every tangled vine
each rustling of dying leaves
by an ever fickle breeze
Words recited long ago
before the first snow
after the last rain
had finally forgotten its pain
It is carried upon the wind
with each wish I now rescind
in the name of false verity
with all of its lying sincerity
For complicated times
demand simple rhymes
to help clear the air
when foul is fair
While I decipher all...

In the Middle
There's got be something better than
in the middle” ~ The Wallflowers
For me my life is a modern riddle
hopelessly stuck now in the middle
crisscrossing oceans with their blues
in search of any true hidden clues
Trying to rewrite this bleak history
change it from an unsolvable mystery
sprinkling some new lines of hope
anything to truly help me then cope
Here between its beginning and end
knowing time is never my friend
showing rhyme as...

Spot On
"Out damned spot! Out, I say!" ~ Lady MacBeth
So, what then did the Lady see
was it the same bloody spot as me
the very same crime scene...
refusing to ever become clean
For murder is a personal affair
makes it hard to clear the air
when something is killed
when that ink is finally spilled
A permanent stain upon the page
penned with such a passionate rage
left here for all to see
just an unjust receipt for a fee
For everything has its price
even after a toss of the dice
has...

Dagger
I keep it close to my heart
to spill thick ink in the night
christening the write
once the stabbings then start
For within this wicked art
there is such a true delight
with a blade gleaming bright
makes these unfaithful seas part
As I splash upon the virgin page
then leave so many new clues
After unleashing my jagged rage
in any direction I do so choose
Prepared now for the vacant stage
win...

His Due
I’m living for giving
the Devil his due” ~ B.O.C.
How I have truly tried
to deny this darkest side
banishing it into the night
bury it deep in the write
Where words I cannot say
don costumes for this play
walk in a drunken swagger
concealing another dagger
Even Lady MacBeth’s spot
deserved what it finally got
a little poetic flood
of the old man’s blood
While these marching trees
whisper poetry on the breeze
try again to explain
all these things to the Thane ...

Foggedly
As in revenge, have suck'd up from the sea
contagious fogs" ~ Shakespeare
I do fear there is nothing as clear
as revenge with all of its fogged folly
short sharp blades
replace barbed tongued trades
in a duel
in a dance
that scores its own music
for vague vagary is a fine finery
making a new weather
able to tickle the feather
coax the jittery quill
into a messy premature spill

Dark Queen
She always bleeds her own ink
makes you ache while you do think
upon her many wicked charms
upon her many latent harms
As likely to caress as to scratch
she has yet to meet her match
knowing how to seduce all men
with mere jots of her feathered pen
Cutting short their bold swagger
within the length of her dagger
a most bittering hornet sting
love departs on a blackened wing
Leaving you left alone here
with just a single longing tear
cried from both joy and pain
as chilling as the Scottish rain

This Very Spot
Out, damned spot! Out I say!" ~ Shakespeare
For what is this ink upon the page
but a bloody casting of rage
meant to stain
meant to mar
just another wound bled
left right here to be read
or better yet...
heard word for word
