A Tale of a Cup of Coffee
It feels safe here
A gentle escape from fame
My disguise working well
Even the guy at the Deli on the corner
Didn't pay me no mind
I asked for hazelnut instead of regular
It smells great but taste is often lacking
The story of my life wraps around coffee
I tried so hard to achieve greatness
Now hiding from the very thing I thought I wanted most
Everyone wants a piece of your privacy
Selling my soul for headlines was a mistake
I couldn't have known then, to busy with my arrogance
Shit, he put sugar in my coffee ...
A gentle escape from fame
My disguise working well
Even the guy at the Deli on the corner
Didn't pay me no mind

It smells great but taste is often lacking
The story of my life wraps around coffee

Uncle Scam
All he did was make lots of threats
and still he got the votes
from white folks with bajillion frets
stoked by kazillion gloats.
They were the smash mouth runagates
who mostly had it good,
except for all their mental states;
as brittle as dead wood...
where moral muscle had been found,
perhaps when they were six,
but now their morals are unsound
all due to MAGA tricks.
The kind that turns a decent kid
into a raging troll,
like the kind who flips his lid...
when Bishops show some soul.

Beat Me to a Pulp
"... a type of work produced by half-educated and wholly incompetent writers for consumption by office boys, factory girls, and other persons devoid of culture and literary taste." - R Austin Freeman, "The Art of the Detective Story"
I try for taste, you understand,
and read sonnets,
collect novels that reap plaudits.
I accept manna from God's hand.
But often my taste reflects the dark mass
of office girls and workshop boys,
and so I fly like Lucifer, alas,
to folk fiction and pulpy joys.
Elysia's bookshelves...

Death of a Big Fish
for David Lynch
The strangeness inherent in you
was not disturbing, in the end,
not in a sense that prophesied flames, at least,
but opened up a strange vista,
one terrifying in Radcliffe’s vision
of what defines terror:
expanding your soul, not annihilating.
A woman in trouble. Wrapped in plastic.
Bipedal bunny rabbits in human clothes.
Dennis Hopper huffing gas.
Laura Dern with weird stretched-out smile.
Or LAX in brightest day.
The sentimental turned
to sinister. Black Lodge. Dwarf.
These painterly...

Krautrock! New music of the future (Part 2)
Most writers, journalists, musicians and fans agree that the post war youth of the 1960’s was politically aware and well educated. Plus, you can hardly ignore the proliferation of hallucinogenic and psychedelic drugs. There was also the influence of pioneering British & American bands and the boom in youth pop culture. For the first time in decades the German people had become a society that was independent and wealthy. All these factors and obviously many more were what lead to a music culture as unheard before.

Krautrock! New music of the future (Part 1)
The music of Germany, since WWII has been something of a rare phenomenon. From a vast nation obsessed with gaining a new image, making a mark for themselves and aiming to try and get away from the ghosts of the past. Such an attitude inevitably led to a youth culture that was inquisitive and yearning for new forms of expression. This uniquely Teutonic spirit had existed on a smaller scale, decades earlier with the new generation of classical composers and also musical innovators like Oskar Sala.
As the electronic revolution gained pace in the 1950’s, a new generation of...

NYC 1963
The studio on 4th Street was the place they needed to be
Hope & determination was in their minds, that they can change society
They were considered the outcasts outside of their community
Songs being created in Greenwich Village that weren't so rare
Strings being strummed by poets, ideas to influence others
It began with Woodie Guthrie and exploded with Bob Dylan
In the evening, the beatniks and the long haired girls came too
Coffee shops heard their words
And when the next day came they took action
The blue collared army

Lucio Fulci
Italian director Lucio Fulci,
began his career during the 1950's
By the early 1970's, Giallo thrillers,
mysterious shockers, who is the killer?
A Lizard in Woman's Skin
Sette Note in Nero
Don't Torture a Duckling
Sella d'argento
1979 the maestro switched to gore,
Zombi was graphic, the audience wanted more
Paura nella città dei morti viventi
L'aldilà
Quella villa accanto al cimitero
The Gates of Hell Trilogy
Fulci's finest hour
executed with brilliancy
Lo squartatore di New York ...

That Purple Blob Named Grimace
Is he a taste bud or a milkshake?
Everyone loves that happy, purple blob Grimace
He's a McDonald character that loves milk shakes
Back when he debuted in 1971, he was called Evil Grimace
Evil Grimace was sinister
A villain who would steal milkshakes from children
He was mean, had four arms and no charm at all
Children were frightened
Some children believed if they ordered a milk shake, that evil Grimace would steal it out of their hands
The 4-armed Grimace was also a coke fiend
Besides stealing milk shakes and tormenting kids,...
