DAD

When you look at me
Who do you see?
Is it my mother’s eyes?
Looking back at you
A union that you say
Should never have happened
But then my sister and I
Would not exsist
How do you feel about that?
Confrontation from the start
A woman you desired
But she was not meant for you
She hurt you to the core
You shed tears as you left us
She did not care that you had nowhere to go
So cold
Sometimes I feel you look at me
But my mother is who you see
It’s not my fault I look like her
You made sure we had everything
We needed when we was young
Emotion not included
Not your fault just your way
You played a big part in our lives
Kept it stable to a point
But now we are grown
You have distant yourself from us
Do you think we no longer need you?
I’m grateful for everything you did
The sacrifices you made
But I wish you could see just me
It is so hard to talk to you
Leaves me feeling hurt and lost
Disappoint overwhelms
I have become you
Emotions so hard to show
I wish you could see me
And not my mother
I no longer want to carry the weight
Of the hurt she caused
I wish you could see me for me
