Angelic

A lonely old farmer with feet of clay
Found an angel asleep in a stack of hay
She tried to escape when he tried to feel her
He vowed to the sky that he would steal her

He bound her in chains, to make her stay
And marveled at her through the night and day
She broke his heart when she cried in pain
But he was gentle, and loved her again

He clipped her wings and called it fate
His precious angel, harboring the hate
That would be his end, when she had her way
Her earthbound jailer, she soon would repay

She climbed a tall tree in the morning sun
He begged her come down, then went for his gun
But an eagle swooped low, with gentle claws
And bore her aloft, with all of her flaws

The man protested, to heavens above
How cruel to take his only true love
Until she returned with bow and arrow
She slew him then, and sucked his bone marrow

Together they live in their own private Hell
Defiler and defiled, not ending well
His angel wears leather while he is tied
She flays his thin skin, and feasts at his thighs

Condemned to flames, in the red hot coals
Eternal torture for covetous souls
Possess not the angel, for it is unwise
A gift not freely given - is only despised
