The Setting Sun
Count Change for a pack of cigarettes I don’t need
Surviving on pills and booze
Wanting a woman I can’t have
I read the paper and know we’re all going to hell
And all I am is alone
Watching the world spin into oblivion
so this is life
Eat the shit we’re given
Swallow
Or
Choke to death
Chew and Chew and Chew
Smoke another cigarette
Knowing what cancer is
The fact is I don’t care
How can I when a woman beats her husband
With the body four week old son
I watch the dog as she sleeps
In this simple action I feel peace
I know we’re out of heroes
Because no one will save us
And all I can do is watch
Now I am older and none the wiser
Destroyed
We all are
Even if we won’t admit it
If only we could live the fantasy of childhood forever
Yet here we are
And still
Life is beautiful
Surviving on pills and booze
Wanting a woman I can’t have
I read the paper and know we’re all going to hell
And all I am is alone
Watching the world spin into oblivion
so this is life
Eat the shit we’re given
Swallow
Or
Choke to death
Chew and Chew and Chew
Smoke another cigarette
Knowing what cancer is
The fact is I don’t care
How can I when a woman beats her husband
With the body four week old son
I watch the dog as she sleeps
In this simple action I feel peace
I know we’re out of heroes
Because no one will save us
And all I can do is watch
Now I am older and none the wiser
Destroyed
We all are
Even if we won’t admit it
If only we could live the fantasy of childhood forever
Yet here we are
And still
Life is beautiful
