The Philosopher
He's a deep thinker,
A philosopher,
A ponderer upon the sands of time.
He has stood on the brink and stared
into worlds where atomic ions collide
and ventured in thought from
primordial pools to ancient societies
that never survived.
He's debated theology and deities,
benevolent, malevolent and divine.
He's explored the clandestine faults
that riddle the surfaces of his mind
to seek out the answers regarding
existence and the flaws in humanities design.
He is a man of mental fortitude
who is brilliant and wise
and you can imagine the turbulence
that he's surpassed if you look into his eyes,
and every second that passes within
his mind may be a crisis averted
or perhaps the fading memory of a dream deserted,
but he never looks back and he hold no regrets
but neither does he forgive or forget.
And so he ponders on in search of that proof,
Longing for purpose and longing for truth,
contemplating the motives of man
as he filters the sands of time in his hands,
and if the answers in question are beyond his reach,
he accepts that that wisdom is not his to teach.
