A lost generation

I’m lost in the lies my government freely provides
Seeking a truth between the lines
Looking into the mirage of what might happen
I see terrorist bombing my mind through media footage
Wearing a suit and tie trying to claim they want what’s best
Is this the one time what their saying is true
If so what am I supposed to do

Cannot look away cannot act like I didn’t see
All the tricks and underhanded lies
That you’re trying to pull on me

Long since have I realized
Change is a word used to get a vote
Change isn’t going to happen
My generation is going to single handily
Destroy what our forefathers created
Or at least what’s left of it

Brain washed might as well be brain dead
Raised by the generation of naive believers
Who thought they could trust paid deceivers

Taught to do as told
Follow orders and listen
Don’t doubt me or what I say
I’m who you should believe in

Hanged by our hanging on to what the media says
Might as well slit my own throat
At least I don’t have to witness this if I’m dead

This poem isn’t going to make a change
Not going to be seen past the straight and curved lines
We identify as letter
This poem will be read
Will be seen
But the anger I feel about having to write this poem
Will not be felt

Our government is an astonishing thing
Able to lie to us and deceive us
Yet not be the one to blame
Albert Einstein said that insanity is
“Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results”
I guess insanity runs in all American people
