The Truth
(originally penned on April 7, 1989, adapted for posting today)
things that are seen
and things that are heard
like wings of doves
or song of bird
like skies of blue
or joyful youth
taken for granted
beyond the truth
things that are tasteful
like a ham on rye
or things that smell
like moms apple pie
like poi or chew
or franks from a booth
they may or not
entice the truth
things that are felt
like cotton soft
or sand in your eyes
from winds aloft
and things that are known
but not very couth
that's what life's all about
to admit the truth
things that are seen
and things that are heard
like wings of doves
or song of bird
like skies of blue
or joyful youth
taken for granted
beyond the truth
things that are tasteful
like a ham on rye
or things that smell
like moms apple pie
like poi or chew
or franks from a booth
they may or not
entice the truth
things that are felt
like cotton soft
or sand in your eyes
from winds aloft
and things that are known
but not very couth
that's what life's all about
to admit the truth
