Broken Ribs
No words could make you
Understand.
It’s illegible, inaudible—
Impossible to comprehend.
It’s loving a woman who,
Doesn’t love you back.
It’s wanting to be different and
Knowing,
You never can.
It’s the tears your mother cries
Watching her only daughter,
// Die.
It’s calling your best friend
And getting her voicemail, again.
It's screaming at the top or your
Lungs, "Help!"
But no one ever comes.
It's guilt so heavy it crushes,
Your ribcage.
It's spending every second of the day
Gasping for breath.
Understand.
It’s illegible, inaudible—
Impossible to comprehend.
It’s loving a woman who,
Doesn’t love you back.
It’s wanting to be different and
Knowing,
You never can.
It’s the tears your mother cries
Watching her only daughter,
// Die.
It’s calling your best friend
And getting her voicemail, again.
It's screaming at the top or your
Lungs, "Help!"
But no one ever comes.
It's guilt so heavy it crushes,
Your ribcage.
It's spending every second of the day
Gasping for breath.
