Take A Stand (Proud Soldier)

as i was walkin through the air port
in my uniform
the crowd was cheerin
and welcoming me and my fellow soldiers home
i shoke their hands
and this little girl smilin at me
what she said next was kind of hard to believe

she said
welcome back
we're glad you made it safe
we're proud of the sacrifics you've made
everybody is here to show their support
for the soldiers at there doin the hard job in this war
she said it aint much
but i made this sign
for a soldier to take home tonight
as she placed it in my hands
it took everything to fight back the tears man
its moments like that
that make me proud to take a stand

when i made it back home
that sign was folded in my bag
i showed it off as much as i could
i wish i would
have got that little girls name
so i could write her and say
what it meant
it stayed on my wall for the rest of that deployment
and any time i got to feelin down
i remembered what she said when my boots hit the American ground

she said

now my time as a soldier
is almost over
but i hope someday
i can look at a warrior and say
