For Muriel with Love

I had a lovely conversation
with my Aunt today.

She has so much going on
but still finds
the right words to say
to help me through
this mess I'm in

to give me courage,
love and grace
in the face of catastrophe

I was calling to look out for her
but she was looking
out for me

we talked, we laughed
we shared many things
about love and relationships
and family
how difficult
those things can be

but there are good times too
and many memories
hold on to those that
are the best

life is too short
to hold onto the bad
keep the good forget
the rest

be grateful for the things
you have
and hold your loved ones close
there will come a time
they can't be there
and it's usually when you need
them the most

for her time to share
wisdom and love with me
is coming to a close

so I'm holding on as
fast as I can
to carry her in my heart
to hold her laughter
in my ear
and her joy of life
in my soul

her smile and grace
her willingness to embrace
whatever comes her way
so when the time comes
for me to want to share

all I'll have to do
is look in my heart,
and I know
she'll always be there.


*My Aunt Muriel passed away on March 18th * I was able to be with her and hold her hand for several hours the day before. She knew I was with her. And these moments, to talk with her, and see her smile, I will cherish, and carry with me for the rest of my days. I Love You Auntie Mooie!!! RIP <3
