Why Say Goodbye.
We began to fall in love, our lives branching out into their own.
We were friends once, our hearts close even at their lows.
We laughed together, our joy was plain to be seen.
Then that all changed.
Your smile haunts me in my dreams now, we've been apart far too long.
Your face is all i see now, hidden in the eyes of the faceless masses.

Your in love with somebody else.
I accept my fate, as your friend so casually tossed aside.
I grieve the loss of your heart, it lies in the cold grasp of a monster.
I have failed you, i should have spoke up sooner.

Do you know who the luckiest man in the world is?
The man who buys you a ring, cause everyday forward he gets to wake up and see you smile, and know all is right in the world.
maybe one day i will be so lucky...

Very nicely written & an enjoyable read. Thought-provoking & also some sadness shown in this stanza:

Beautiful piece... thoughtful and evocative... well done...
That said... it is marred by only two small errors... line 7, reads ''your in love with somebody else''... should be *you're*, a contraction of ''you are''.
Also, line 10 reads, ''I should have spoke up sooner''... should read *I should have ''spoken'' up sooner or ''spoken'' sooner, past tense.
A slip of the finger, so to speak. well done, Poet... Write On! Ely
