Do You Remember
Do You Remember
Do you remember,
The way it was?
When the days were long
Built with wonder
And not just because?
Do you remember,
When I would come to you
Run to you,
From the monsters under my bed?
When I wasn’t hiding
From the things that I said?
I want to know if you remember
That whole other world gone by
Maybe just as far now
As the diamonds in the sky
Do you remember
When the pieces began to fall
Those days in the summer
When the demons began to call
Though I hate to ask it of you
I want to know if you remember
When I didn’t look back from running
That one cold September
I remember it
It burns in my mind
The way things once were
The world once kind
By now lives have ended and started
And every day since then,
I’ve become heavier hearted.
I can’t remember your warm embrace
The way your hair tickled my face
It's my turn to remember now
When the phone rang that night
My two worlds seemed to collide
When the first world seemed out of sight
So here I am asking you to remember
The good things, and the bad
Your cold hand in my grip
So thin it could rip
Now my memories are only sad
I don’t know if you can hear me
I don’t know why I try in vain
Maybe so if you opened your eyes
Mother, please open your eyes
I could say I’m sorry
And not have to face the pain.
Do you remember,
The way it was?
When the days were long
Built with wonder
And not just because?
Do you remember,
When I would come to you
Run to you,
From the monsters under my bed?
When I wasn’t hiding
From the things that I said?
I want to know if you remember
That whole other world gone by
Maybe just as far now
As the diamonds in the sky
Do you remember

Those days in the summer
When the demons began to call
Though I hate to ask it of you
I want to know if you remember
When I didn’t look back from running
That one cold September
I remember it
It burns in my mind
The way things once were
The world once kind
By now lives have ended and started
