Mosaic
Facts lay before us;
bare and often half understood
Our minds build mosaic world views
From every broken thought – every thoughtless word
Comb out; creator through the ugly, misused and abused
Make out the face people want to see
Colors bright enough to hide the flaws
We used to show our hearts on our faces
Little children only concerned with butterflies
But then opinions came at us like baseball bats
smashing our porcelain faces
Leaving us hopelessly to rummage through the pieces
Bleeding fingers, trying to put our broken truths back together
But finding they don’t fit
bare and often half understood
Our minds build mosaic world views
From every broken thought – every thoughtless word
Comb out; creator through the ugly, misused and abused
Make out the face people want to see
Colors bright enough to hide the flaws
We used to show our hearts on our faces
Little children only concerned with butterflies
But then opinions came at us like baseball bats
smashing our porcelain faces
Leaving us hopelessly to rummage through the pieces
Bleeding fingers, trying to put our broken truths back together
But finding they don’t fit
