Frightened Rabbits.
You are majestic,
A hero of mine,
But there is something wrong,
We are both deflating.
My heart can’t take the battering,
The blood that flows through my arteries,
Is fuelled with alcohol,
And the keepsakes are burning,
As the fire rages on,
The hillside is in flames,
The grasslands burning to the beat,
Of your screams.
I used to be assertive,
A man with the world at his feet,
Now I drink to the melody,
That floods my memory.
The heartland,
Of this town,
Is putrid,
Rotten to the core,
We live like frightened rabbits.
I need a feel for a place,
Before I can adjust to staying there,
But this town has no organic love and justice,
Hatred pounds the concrete.
