You, My Dear

Roses may be red
And violets may be blue
But you, my dear
Shine brighter than any hue

Her hair may be dark
And her hair may be light
But your hair, my dear
Is a marvelous sight

Many eyes are green
And other eyes may be brown
But your eyes, my dear
Lift me up when I am down

One's lips may be chapped and cracked
And one's lips may be as smooth as lotion
But your lips, my dear
Entice me with every motion

Some smiles are fake
And some smiles are for real
But your smile, my dear
O how good it makes me feel

Some skin may be tan
And some skin may be pale
But your skin, my dear
Is a treasure to unveil

One hand may be warm
And one hand may be cold
But your hand, my dear
Is all that I want to hold

A name can be common
Or a name can be one of a kind
But your name, my dear
Peacefully fills my mind

Voices can be quiet
And voices can be loud
But your voice, my dear
Wisps around me like a cloud

A kiss can be quick
And a kiss can be slow
But your kiss, my dear
I want thousands in a row

Hearts may be broken
And hearts may be divine
But of all the hearts, my dear
I wish to give you mine

Love can be false
And love can be true
But your love, my dear
Is all that I want from you
