ode to destruction

It was what we chose to do
thinking it's best for me and you
crossing the line with no remorse
So busy on track we got off course
secret conversations in the middle of the night
believing our inflated infatuation was right
silent kisses the day would bring
piecing back the break of spring
careless "I love you's" floated into the air
ever so public about a quiet affair
hollow hearts were greatly filled
true desires of our souls revealed
redefining a deadly sin
slow grinding to Led Zeppelin
nonchalantly aware of flowers soon to be growing
April winds weren't the only things blowing
"perfect love" fading in the sunset
returning in dawn with deep regrets
mixed signals on both our part
obvious oblivion from the start
beautiful dreams turn to tearful nights
resulting from ridiculous fights
ending with never speaking again
unexpected departure from an expected friend
if better to have loved and lost, than to never have loved at all is the lesson then is it love that's changing to a dying depression
Looks of disgust from a familiar face
Throat swelling up from a recognized taste
A relationship severed inevitably
Destroying the past with new memories
So let's toast to the wise ones who knew
the beginning of the end of the end of me and you.
