She Was Beaten
if she only understood what I been through
to love her to the depths in which I was resurrected
to look satan in the eye like I was being respected
than bathe myself in Holy water
til I forgave myself, threw the slaughter
for the sin of letting someone neglect my soul
I’ve been saved!
you haven’t been through pain till
you’ve chased your liquor with tears
read a bible while you smoked earth
ashed on your leg & not feel it
coz the hell you were in was muuuch hotter..
when your ears rang so loud you couldn’t hear your inner child holler
when you believed words like you really couldn’t be worth shyt or human
coz humans weren’t created blue, green or purple
or any other color that a fist decided to paint on mommy’s precious little girl
you were some sad secret…
drawn into a dark corner
locked in a house against your will
you were beaten!
& everyone thought you were in a car accident but you ran into a back hand
You were sommme crash dummy
You were some puppet!
told what to do so much you forgot to think for yourself
You were sooo forgiving!
when makeup hid the scars you’d give the devil another chance
How stupid!
I sit referring to myself in third person
coz I could only heal never worsen
so far from her I am today
I ran away!
if she only understood what I been through

WOW! I felt this ink!
Different emotions touched me reading this! Anger, sadness and Joy! Angered by this abuse, saddened at how alone you must have felt to endure this pain and Joyful at how you've defeated your past. Verifying your 'then' and 'now' through third person was creative!

the best poetry is venerable poetry when you forget about judgement or pity or breaking down in the middle of a poetry slam you just want to teach someone something. This is an olllld story but something triggered me to rewrite it.
