Fear and I go long back

Bolting rigid with electricity rippling
through the course of my bones,
I reach blindly for my fold of twilight fabric;
as worms tunnel deep to escape the early birds.
Winding the cloth over raw eyes,
my senses sound sirens:
signalling a collapsed comrade.

For now is the time of vulnerability,
starting the process of united ties.
Fear and I go long back into the dark ages,
worlds at war starring in every reality.
He gazes at me from the mirror,
down each step (tip toe),
in every light particle,
and commands the tiredness that
lulls heavy eyelids into oblivion.

We spill blood over designated
surfaces, to assemble later when
the need is excruciating.
Fear braids itself into Poison Ivy,
coiling around my light: suffocating.
I quench his craving for adrenalin
under a facade of darkness.
Two can play at this game, after all;
Fear and I go long back.
