relationship railroad

Following me while walking beside the lengthy railroad tracks, was my past.  The heaviness upon my shoulders slowly caused a hunched shuffle. Staring at these extended steel tracks I recognize they ran parallel with each other, looking never-ending. Two tracks gliding together to support the trains that travel upon them.
I grasped the notion that without one another these tracks would halt, cease to carry on to their next destination, bearing the weight of the trains.  They depend on one another, needing each other to accomplish the subsequent mapped out destination in their journey.
My past relationships have been comparable to these parallel steel tracks, only my tracks veered of course, the railroad tires supporting them bare thread from the elements of weather beating them down continuously. I permitted the heaviness of the trains to slowly shatter me.
The sturdy tracks lead the trains upside hills into the gleaming sunshine, gliding past family homes, businesses and deep into dark tunnels, through deep valleys, passing so many opportunities along the way without a glance. The journeys become transitory. The tracks support the weighty trains transporting people to their last stop , joyful or sorrowful journeys; they still sustain and endure the pain from the over use, the wear and tear. Events happening daily, monthly, yearly, continuously occur with no complaints of the weight bearing tracks. Made from solid steel they remain intact through all of the voyages.
These tracks laid are supported and nailed into the earth, forcefully hammered into the tires, keeping them held down, preventing them to not loosen, to remain immobile. The tracks will run free atop the tires, always being restricted to the earth and their destinations that are selected for them.
As people we know, our relationships in life can be nailed down, have a sense of restricted freedom, not able to decide without a second guess. Giving you no opportunity to loosen and be distinct from the other. Most relationships do not run parallel like the tracks; one train usually rides steadfast ahead on the tracks, or the other sluggishly following.
These lengthy tracks are not easily damaged, but throughout the years, everything needs essential repairs to guarantee a safe passage. Our relationships just as the tracks may possibly be mended and necessitate reinforcement. The splinters can be sealed precisely together glued down. Yet, nothing is ever absolutely repaired. Once something fractures or splinters it is by no means entirely how it was when it was first constructed.
Like railroads tracks, our relationships need a parallel steel track to run alongside. Not a person to follow or direct. Just a person to run parallel creating the smoothest train ride one could partake. Destinations will always be in place, knowingly aware of the freedom ride in between them. Nothing is able to truly be free, for we always need support in life.  These tracks are nailed down to support a greater cause, safety of people who ride them, support of people to travel their destinations.  The trains upon the tracks are free to travel any place they want, but are directed to each voyage.  My tracks have been damaged and repaired a few times, beaten down tires from the relationships I choose, feeling a sense of freedom with restrictions I can no longer withstand. I want the second track alongside me, to embrace me, appreciate me, and enjoy the freedom rides I offer with no restrictions.  Not one person can be the support of another, but one person can ride alongside a mate, carrying some of their weights they each have attained.
