Heart-throb
What have I but the throb of your heart?
Its single, beautiful, victorious note
shouting life upon life throughout limbs and lips,
lips that kiss and love and clasp,
and whisper lullabies in the dark;
sweet serenades of soothing sound that
bed my mind in numbing down,
and wrap my soul in satin peace
'til all I feel is your beating breast
whose core brings all you are to be.
What have I but the throb of your heart,
for without it, we are not we.
Its single, beautiful, victorious note
shouting life upon life throughout limbs and lips,
lips that kiss and love and clasp,
and whisper lullabies in the dark;
sweet serenades of soothing sound that
bed my mind in numbing down,
and wrap my soul in satin peace
'til all I feel is your beating breast
whose core brings all you are to be.
What have I but the throb of your heart,
for without it, we are not we.
