Better Off On My Own
I process work function and live
better when I'm off on my own,
I walk the streets late at night
thinking where'd my friends,family,
life and world go.
But I knew where it went I gave up on
it and just left everything behind.
I am better off alone because I have failed at
life with all the opportunities it provided for
me and i didn't accept any.
Jumping in a lake with a rock tied
to my ankle sounds like the easiest wat out any
more and people say keep trying,
but they're just a bunch of fucking hypocrites.
I'm better off alone because I ways always alone
to me myself and the world.
Don't burn because of a small dumbass mistake
or heartbreak.
Because you will fall harder than ever
and there's no way out once you've fucked up.

I like this because it is honest, and obviously not dark and pessimistic for the sheer sake of it. The truth is that many people have felt like this, and so it's actually a lot easier to relate to than some would realise (or want to realise). I like how the poem has been written, explaining exactly how the poet/narrator feels, without hiding it under extravagant language or flights of fancy. Well done!
