My Refrigerator

My refrigerator is older than I am, and I am definitely approaching late middle age.  It belonged to my grandmother, who called all refrigerators Frigidaires.  I'm not sure of the brand but it reads CO-OP on the door.  In all the years of owning this refrigerator, and it was passed down through the generations, it has never required repairs.  The only thing I have had done is to replace the rubber gasket.

I don't think it is very energy efficient but the rounded shape is marvelous.  Visitors exclaim, "Cool!  An old refrigerator!"  It has a tiny little icebox that gets a heavy frost buildup, and then I have to defrost it.  There are no shelves or racks on the inner door.  At the bottom is a drawer that I use for storing pan and kettle lids.  Grandma used to keep molasses cookies there.  I remember going to town with my grandparents once a week and bringing home a pint of ice cream, which was shared by five people, to keep in the freezer compartment.

After potlucks I don't have to take home leftovers that I am offered.  I can honestly say that my refrigerator is too small.  Other refrigerators have come and gone and I don't remember their brand names.  This is the only one I currently own.  If anything happens to this vintage gem, I am going to have it restored.  I hope it lasts me the rest of my life.
