The Mouse and the thief of hearts

This poem comes from a true story, I used to be on spaces with the nickname Mr Jingles, the mouse from The Green Mile. One night a comment appeared from a girl who had been on my space, she told me she had stolen a mouse from my room during the night. I replied the next day and that started the deepest love I have ever felt for anyone. We are not together now and I last spoke to her 5 years ago today. I love her more now than then but not as much as I will love her tomorrow......

I know of a woman, who stole my pet mouse
The rodent was taken, from inside my house
The thief she sneaked in, under cover of dark
And then as she left, she ignited a spark
Made off with my slippers, to keep her feet dry
And left me a message, I'll be back by and by
So I went to her place, and scolded her well
But she would be back, this much I could tell
As true as her word, she broke back in with ease
Then raided my fridge, and ran off with some cheese
It's had babies she cried, they're all over the place
So I'm bringing some back, I just don't have the space
Sharing mice is it now, I thought with a grin
There's a hook in my heart, is she reeling me in ?
The months they did pass, then on into years
Dare I tell her the truth? Overcome my deep fears
But the hook was in deep, would I shake myself free?
Or speak of my love, and then wait and see
I looked down at the mouse, eating cheese from a wedge
Why not pluck up some courage, walk right up to the edge
with the mouse at my back, I love you I said
And then closed my eyes, and wished I were dead
But I love you too, and what took you so long ?
All the clues that I left, was I doing it wrong ?
So she felt the same, and the story began
With the spark she ignited, the night that she ran
From the bedroom she burgled, when she crept in my house
And escaped in my slippers, with a cute little mouse.......
