Breathes for me
The poem below was written whilst I was having Chemo, sat in a quiet hospital room and knowing that a girl not so far away was helping just as much as the chemicals.....
Such acrid poison fills my veins
Decides for me what time remains
This mix of hope is dripping slow
No cares for me, nowhere to go
But sit and watch the minutes pass
Ears filled by beating heart of glass
While through the window darkened clouds
Shape shifting silhouetted shrouds
Get back awhile I say to thee
For an angel softly breathes for me
Across my face the smallest grin
My sweethearts love is held within
This knot of darkness deep inside
Will not outrun, it will not hide
With numbered days your stay be short
And by your tail are surely caught
To be thrown out, to set me free
My angel softly breathes for me.................
Such acrid poison fills my veins
Decides for me what time remains
This mix of hope is dripping slow
No cares for me, nowhere to go
But sit and watch the minutes pass
Ears filled by beating heart of glass
While through the window darkened clouds
Shape shifting silhouetted shrouds
Get back awhile I say to thee
For an angel softly breathes for me
Across my face the smallest grin
My sweethearts love is held within
This knot of darkness deep inside
Will not outrun, it will not hide
With numbered days your stay be short
And by your tail are surely caught
To be thrown out, to set me free
My angel softly breathes for me.................
