How Does He Know

Some might wait
until the subtlety
of motion has ensued,
or perhaps they catch the wave
just prior on the waft
of some desire,
scented as is affixed
to your attire,
some puka shells
and onyx.

But long before
the toe-heeled step
that shatters every mouth,
preceding any hint
of something snowing
way down south,
before the nostriled hints
or monitors of air,
I intuited your sensual scent
by word of cosmic glare.

To read your words
and know that they are yours
is more than fundamental
to the spirit that endures.

To hear the cadence in your voice
and gleam the kerning dance
is all that needed to have happened
to have the given chance.
