Knowing
Knowing
I ache within
My heart
Pounds beneath this skin
Every moment there
Holds me tight
As I endeavor not to stare
Yet still I look
Though trepidation lurks so near
I feel my eyes open bare as a book
How do I speak
And keep my heart from showing
All the while smiling
Yet I fear the knowing
My steps carry me close
Each pace illuminating my true intent
But within, warring desire flows
Time’s silent hand
Slowly pulls me under
Watching I sink into the sand
For surely there is knowing
I see it in those eyes
But most of all in her smile ever glowing
I ache within
My heart
Pounds beneath this skin
Every moment there
Holds me tight
As I endeavor not to stare
Yet still I look
Though trepidation lurks so near
I feel my eyes open bare as a book
How do I speak
And keep my heart from showing
All the while smiling
Yet I fear the knowing
My steps carry me close
Each pace illuminating my true intent
But within, warring desire flows
Time’s silent hand
Slowly pulls me under
Watching I sink into the sand
For surely there is knowing
I see it in those eyes
But most of all in her smile ever glowing
