Lover When I'm Near You
She had a smile
that would silence
the silence, eyes
that would kill the
rain. "I sometimes
think," she would say,
"that I am incapable
of love." She would
tell me of the beauty
of nature: "Flowers
are always so sad,"
she would say. But
we always had our way
when she let loose a
stocking.
