THE ANSWER

The Aswer
I’m stuck, I can’t escape this, and it’s got its sharp talons in me
I try to fight the battle; I’ve even tried to flee
But it keeps up with me, never seeming to tire
This damn war I’m in, is becoming quite dire

I’ve given it some time, thinking that would do the trick
But after one more journey, it’s like I never quit
Time didn’t seem to help, so I take a frontal attack
I defeat it this time I think, but the monkeys still on my back

I’ll stop doing everything, try the sober deal once again
But I’m bored and miserable, can’t stand to be in my own skin
Desperation, frustration, they visit me one again
How the hell do you fight a war, which you can never seem to win

I beg for help from an old-timer, can you really help me
You say you got the answer, you say you found the key
I tell him my sorry life story, in-between my heavy sobs
He says the answer hard but simple, it’s strictly an inside job

I’m on this pink cloud now; I hope it doesn’t end
I’ve inherited a new family, even found some really good friends
But there’s a catch to this deal, one I have to ultimately obey
I can’t keep what I have found, unless I’m willing to give it away
