Twin
I stare into a mirror
And I watch
Her pink lips curled back
She sneers
Everything looks different in this lighting
Like two separate heads dividing
Her perfectly straightened hair
Deep pink lips
Warm chocolate eyes
I've always hated her
Even when her smiles were genuine
I've hated her since she was born
A perfect opposite
Every imperfection passed down onto the unfortunate
When I fell,
She rose to the occasion
Shoving my face into the dirt
Of humiliation
I couldn't love myself
Because she was better at being me
Than I ever could be
Every day I was reminded
I was just another copy
Of the ugly side of perfection
I am a shadow of who I used to be
I am a trail left behind by her superiority
She's everything and nothing like what I've always wanted to be
And I watch
Her pink lips curled back
She sneers
Everything looks different in this lighting
Like two separate heads dividing
Her perfectly straightened hair
Deep pink lips
Warm chocolate eyes
I've always hated her
Even when her smiles were genuine
I've hated her since she was born
A perfect opposite
Every imperfection passed down onto the unfortunate
When I fell,
She rose to the occasion
Shoving my face into the dirt
Of humiliation
I couldn't love myself
Because she was better at being me
Than I ever could be
Every day I was reminded
I was just another copy
Of the ugly side of perfection
I am a shadow of who I used to be
I am a trail left behind by her superiority
She's everything and nothing like what I've always wanted to be
