War wounds
An immovable skin wall of glistening water
shields her from questioning glances.
The night followed every wish she ever made,
infecting scars from violent daily battles;
while the sun slumped on her shoulders in defeat.
Ceaseless in scalding pain,
flames ruthlessly remind of failures.
The false light will never chase away
the eclipse out of her collapsed eyes.
Immutably void of direction,
every turn leads the worn path
back to the start.
Memory ink tattoos every
mental fight into her words;
causing the lilt of a voice stained teary.
No one ever asks.
Legs built up with foundations of stone,
support the upper half from ebbing away.
Exhaustion never tires.
Emotions line up ready to be sorted
into their correct places.
"Anxiety you huddle to the forefront,
Envy you whisper from the back.
Affection hide under the ashes of
Elation, I'm sure she'll return soon".
She opens the door to the escape root,
believed to be as mythical
as the Garden of Eden.
The hope that sparked,
was doused by Gods cruelty.
For the entire length of the tunnel
was blocked up with
her own war wounds.
Crying red in sympathy.
shields her from questioning glances.
