Can't Understand
This is as close as you’ll ever get
They’re cheering for a change
And the riots are like wars
This is as close as you want to get
These are the lives of the lost
Some in the gutters, spitting out blood
Others, tossing themselves over bridges
These are the lives you can’t sympathize
That is a wise man in the corner
He’s as silent as a ghost, for he is through
Trying to smack sense into every young punk
That is a wise man you’ll never become
Those are the black clouds of the afterlife
Coming down on the living like cancer
And we run and run, screaming into the night
Those are the black clouds you must face
There is a will to keep trudging through life
As all the folks fight, fall, forget, and flee
But it’s come down to a simple sentence
There is a will no one can understand
They’re cheering for a change
And the riots are like wars
This is as close as you want to get
These are the lives of the lost
Some in the gutters, spitting out blood
Others, tossing themselves over bridges
These are the lives you can’t sympathize
That is a wise man in the corner
He’s as silent as a ghost, for he is through
Trying to smack sense into every young punk
That is a wise man you’ll never become
Those are the black clouds of the afterlife
Coming down on the living like cancer
And we run and run, screaming into the night
Those are the black clouds you must face
There is a will to keep trudging through life
As all the folks fight, fall, forget, and flee
But it’s come down to a simple sentence
There is a will no one can understand
