Amygdala

Cleft heavily within
my barbed-wire coat,
my distance and indifferences
are only mirrors of you
in soft spun metaphor.

In unimagining myself
unto her smile--believing
that I could never make
you feel something that
you were not trying to feel,
long before I came along.

While your full breath
hovers o'er me- when you make
your body dance in sensual
swoops-- looking for that place
when you withdraw, closing your
eyes and turned away as if
ashamed, until
inhibitions overwhelmed
upon the plunging descent
and pierced by the mad laughter
of your body, as it is driven
through you into the embrace
of the psychotic climb

It is in this interlude
that I know we both cannot
exist within such a sacred
place--scoured with the palms
of pagan feet, beneath
the symmetry and mimicry
of your body to its mother moon
and its natural tides
of all of these emotions
that you keep precious

It is only as you
flutter diminished--
that I drive you back down
into this dark and primitive
wilderness, and let
these many little pains touch
you-- at first,
and then until you
can bear no more

Suffering you to miscreated want,
drowning you in discovered weakness,
hanging you out to expose your shame
until you shriek and shiver moan
in a decadent spill... melting
into the blackness of river night,
and settling down unto the bottoms

Unto the fitful dreams below
as cold elements
lick you clean away;
sweat--bile and blood
slashed savagely across
the canvas where
your heart
once taught itself
about beauty.

Spells that caress
and condemn
savaged worn eyes
among the dreamless reach.
That none, but I
may ever find you
in such a wretched place.
