Every Single Day
It takes a lot of strength for me to stay away,
I want to embrace you, like I did back in those days,
But they would mean nothing now, and I can't see how,
It could ever work again.
Every day I see you, you grow more and more beautiful,
The sun I can't look away from,
And even though you're blinding me,
I stare with high hopes of heaven.
Your soft eye contact punches me in the gut,
A hard blow from something I held so tender,
Blind and bruised you left me,
And I will not recover.
Every day I hope and dream,
Of our alternate universe, where we can be,
Everything we wanted for each other,
And I didn't feel like this.
A tumor, a growth on my heart,
The more I play with it, the worse it gets,
I can't remove it, or I'll die,
I swear that I'll worship you like I never did.
I want to embrace you, like I did back in those days,
But they would mean nothing now, and I can't see how,
It could ever work again.
Every day I see you, you grow more and more beautiful,
The sun I can't look away from,
And even though you're blinding me,
I stare with high hopes of heaven.
Your soft eye contact punches me in the gut,
A hard blow from something I held so tender,
Blind and bruised you left me,
And I will not recover.
Every day I hope and dream,
Of our alternate universe, where we can be,
Everything we wanted for each other,
And I didn't feel like this.
A tumor, a growth on my heart,
The more I play with it, the worse it gets,
I can't remove it, or I'll die,
I swear that I'll worship you like I never did.
