walking away

In an instant I knew it was finished
What I worked so hard for slowly diminished
As she walked away I wanted to call her name
But all that would do was cause more pain

My love was true, so deep and strong
I never thought that I’d be wrong
As time moves on, I can slowly see
How much she truly meant to me

I tried so long, cried so hard
My heart was broken like a shard
I wanted nothing more to hold her in my arms
But too much avail, I must move on
