To Whom It May Concern

To whom it may concern.
This heart has been burned.
This pride has been hurt.
It's been beaten & bruised.
And now in the cold,
I lick my wounds.
This soul has changed,
Color & shape.
Been blackened.
All over again.
To be cruel.
Just like it used to.
Protective of this heart.
Which you so casually scorned.
This heart which I warned you not to hurt.

To whom it may concern.
This bitter taste has never been worse.
Never has my smile been so forced.
My will,
So rehearsed.
This desire has been fractured.
And I'm a fraction of this once forceful creature.
Beaten down to be just a reaction.

To whom it may concern.
I may not return.
May not come back 'round again,
And see you as you once were.
Everything this burned heart could burn for.
As my sweet secret lover.
Who made me shiver like no other.
Everything this weary soul yearned to keep.
As my midnight partner in crime.
Who could talk for days just to pass the time.
About every part of our lives,
Tragic, funny, passionate and deep.
Everything this kept creativity craved.
As my magical muse.
Who could take away the frustration from all the years left un-used.
Who could spin my mind and play my song,
Made just for me, played only because I might sing along.

So only to you,
Only to whom it may concern.
I tell you now with these useless words.
I may not return.
May not come back 'round again,
And see you as you once were.
