I think in erotica it's easier to talk about universal attraction to the gender of your choice and dabble in your mind on how that feels which is generally pleasant and can make you hot. But really falling in love and having sex is like white light. Erotica is all over that continuum -- but tends toward the former rather than the latter. I think that's where the irreverence of erotica comes in as it's a way to work up the courage to confront the real full prospect of love and sex -- a bit like working up the courage to get in the ring with the bull when you don't stand a chance.
